Euclid was a geometer. He created a book called The Elements, which detailed many still important facts about geometry. His first topic covered in The Elements was the construction of an equilateral triangle. The construction of which is very simple. To construct an equilateral triangle, draw a line segment AB. Using AB as radius, and A as center, draw an arc to about 70°. Then using B as center and AB as radius, draw another arc. Where these arcs intersect, put a point M. Connect points A, B, and M. The polygon formed is an equilateral triangle. Click here to see a small animation of the construction of an equilateral triangle, or you can download it and others at my Downloads Page.
