A Compass: a small device used to draw perfect circles by rotating a V-shaped apparatus around one of its vertexes

Approximately: To make a polygon approximately or inexactly is to not construct it exactly

Circumscribe: Usually, to draw a circle about a polygonm so that all vertices of that polygon touch the curve of the circle. (See Describe)

Describe: To put in a circle (see "inscribe").

Euclid: A Geometer of ancient times who wrote The Elements.

Exactly: To construct a polygon exactly, is to make it perfectly regular.

Inscribe: To put a "something", usually another polygon into a circle.

Geometer: Someone who studies or does Geometry

Geometry: Literally "Earth Measurements". From Latin and ancient Egypt. Taken now to mean the study of objects and how they interact. This involves making rules as to how they function as well as experimenting with different concepts.

Intersection: The meeting of two lines, arcs, or squiggles. (See "Vertex").

Line: A line segment that continues infinitely in both directions.

Line Segment: A line draw between two points.

Pentasect: To divide into 5 (five) pieces.

Perpendicular: a line perpendicular to another line.

Point: A point is a set of coordinates having infinitely small volume. I.E., a set of coordinates but not existent.

Proof: A set of rules usually accompianied by a picture proving something true or false by deductive or inductive reasoning to prove an often unlikely conclusion. This webpage does not go into proofs very much.

Ray: A point with a line extending infinitely in one direction away from it.

Regular: When applied to a polygon: A figure that looks exactly the same when rotated through a given angle.

The Elements: A book written by Euclid detailing many important topics of geometry.

To construct: to make with a straightedge pencil and compass.

To Bisect: To divide into two.

To Trisect: To divide into three.

Straightedge: A ruler without measurement lines.

Vertex: The meeting of two lines, arcs, or squiggles. (See "Intersection").
