To make a square, start with a line. Construct on this line a line segment of the length that you want to have your square's base to be. Call it AB. Next, draw perpendicular lines through A and B. Construct an arc with A as center and segment AB as radius. Repeat on the other side, drawing an arc through A with point B as center. Where the arc and perpendicular cross, put points C and D. Connect points C and D with a line segment. Quadrilateral ABCD is a perfect square.
